Shopify conversion rate optimization
The Shopify CRO agency that finds what to fix first
Rolling Pandas is a Shopify CRO agency and Shopify Select Partner. We find where your store loses shoppers with analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, speed, UX and accessibility checks. Then we A/B test the fixes on your home, collection, product, cart and checkout pages, and keep the ones that win.
For Shopify and Shopify Plus brands doing roughly $500k to $10M a year. Start with the $997 Shopify Growth Diagnostic, a fixed-price review in 5 days. Then keep improving with our Shopify CRO experts on The Rolling Team, from $3,500 a month.
Research
How we find what to fix
Shopify conversion rate optimization starts with research, not guesses. We read your funnel, watch real shoppers, measure speed and review the store page by page before we change anything.
Out of the research comes one list: what to fix and test, in order of likely impact and effort.
Analytics and funnels
We read Shopify's conversion funnel, from sessions to cart, checkout and order, and check that GA4 and your ad platforms agree with it. Then we split it by device, traffic source and page to find the step where most shoppers leave.
Heatmaps and recordings
Heatmaps show where shoppers click, tap and stop scrolling. Session recordings show where they hesitate, tap twice or give up. We watch the sessions behind the drop-off, so every fix has a reason.
Speed
Slow pages lose shoppers before they see a product. We measure Core Web Vitals on real visitors, find the apps, images and scripts that slow your theme down, and fix them in the code.
UX review
A senior designer goes through your home, collection, product, cart and checkout pages on a phone and a laptop: navigation, filters, product information, delivery costs, trust and the path to buy.
Accessibility
Shoppers who use a keyboard, a screen reader or zoom hit walls most teams never see. We test against WCAG 2.2 AA and fix the barriers in the theme. In the EU, the European Accessibility Act covers online shops since 28 June 2025.
A/B testing
How we A/B test on Shopify
Half your visitors see the current page, half see the new one, and the version that converts better stays once enough orders are in.
A reason from the research
Each test starts from something we saw: a drop-off in the funnel, a pattern in recordings, a question shoppers keep asking.
One change, two versions
Visitors are split at random between the current version and the new one, so the change is the only difference.
Enough orders to decide
We agree the measure first, usually conversion rate or revenue per visitor, and run the test in full weeks until the result is clear.
Ship the winner, log the rest
The winning version goes live for everyone. Every result, win or loss, goes in a test log, so no idea gets tested twice.
The tools. Shopify's own Rollouts can A/B test a new theme or checkout setup against your live one, on Shopify's Grow plan and up. For changes inside a template, prices or offers, we use an A/B testing app that fits your store.
The traffic. A/B tests need traffic. When a store has too few orders for a test to settle in a few weeks, we test only the bigger changes and judge the smaller fixes by the funnel before and after.

Benchmarks
What is a good Shopify conversion rate in 2026?
A good Shopify conversion rate is one that beats your own last period, for the same kind of traffic. As an outside guide, Littledata's October 2026 benchmark puts the median Shopify store at 1.4%, the top 20% above 2.7% and the top 10% at 3.6% or more.

Why your number may not match
Every tool counts differently
Shopify divides the sessions that completed checkout by all sessions. Littledata counts GA4 sessions with at least one purchase. Ad platforms and apps use their own rules, so compare a number only with itself.
Shopify changed its sessions in September 2026
From 21 to 23 September 2026, Shopify changed how it counts sessions: known bots are filtered out by default and a session ends after 30 minutes without activity. Shopify's advice is to treat the change as a new baseline.
Your mix moves the number
Price, product type, device and traffic source all change a conversion rate. A $400 sofa sold to new visitors from ads converts lower than a $30 refill bought by returning customers, and both can be healthy.
So we look past the single number to the funnel: the share of sessions that add to cart, reach checkout and complete it, by device and traffic source. That shows which step to fix.

Shopify CRO questions
What does a Shopify CRO agency do?
A Shopify CRO agency finds why visitors leave your store without buying, and fixes it. At Rolling Pandas that means research (analytics, heatmaps, recordings, speed, UX and accessibility), then A/B tests on the pages that lose the most shoppers, then shipping what wins in your theme. Our Shopify CRO experts design and build the changes themselves, so tests don't wait on another developer.
What is a good conversion rate for a Shopify store?
Littledata's October 2026 benchmark puts the median Shopify store at 1.4%, with the top 20% above 2.7% and the top 10% at 3.6% or more, from 433 Shopify stores over the 90 days to 17 October 2026. Price, products, devices and traffic sources move that a lot, so the better test is whether your own rate is rising for the same kind of traffic.
How does Shopify calculate conversion rate?
Shopify divides the online store sessions that completed checkout by all online store sessions. Its Conversion rate breakdown report shows each step: sessions with cart additions, sessions that reached checkout and sessions that completed checkout. Shopify changed how it counts sessions from 21 to 23 September 2026, and suggests treating that change as a new baseline.
How do I increase my Shopify conversion rate?
Find the step where most shoppers leave before you change anything. Check your funnel in Shopify's reports, watch recordings of the sessions that drop off, and fix speed and mobile problems first. Then test one change at a time on the pages with the most traffic, which are usually product pages, the cart and the first screen of the home page.
What is a Shopify CRO audit?
A Shopify CRO audit reviews your store's data and pages to find what stops shoppers from buying. Ours is the Shopify Growth Diagnostic: $997, fixed price, 5 days, covering UX and conversion, speed, SEO and AI search, accessibility and email. The fee is credited to your first month of The Rolling Team if you start within 30 days.
Does my store have enough traffic for A/B tests?
A test needs enough orders in each version to show a real difference, not chance. The fewer orders a store gets, the bigger a change has to be to show up in a few weeks. When traffic is low we test only the bigger changes and judge smaller fixes by the funnel before and after.
Do you work as a Shopify Plus CRO agency?
Yes. We run CRO for Shopify Plus stores too, and on Plus we can test more of the checkout: apps and checkout extensions on the information, shipping and payment steps are available only on Shopify Plus. Shopify's own Rollouts can A/B test a whole checkout setup against your current one.
How much do Shopify conversion rate optimization services cost?
At Rolling Pandas the first step is the $997 Shopify Growth Diagnostic. Ongoing CRO and A/B tests are one department of The Rolling Team's Focus plan, from $3,500 a month, month to month. Grow, from $9,000 a month, runs CRO with up to two more departments, such as Klaviyo email and SEO.
