Selling in Germany
Selling on Shopify in Germany
A Shopify store in Germany gets paid in euros through Shopify Payments, charges German VAT and follows EU rules for sales abroad. It also has more legal duties on the page than most markets: an Impressum, a clear order button, a withdrawal button and accessibility. Here is what each means for your store, with the official source.
Shopify Payments and Klarna
Shopify Payments works for businesses in Germany, with payouts in EUR on every plan. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay come with it, and Klarna is the local method Shopify lists for German shoppers.

VAT and the EU rules
German VAT is 19%, or 7% at the reduced rate. Cross-border sales to consumers in other EU countries follow one EU-wide threshold of €10,000, and the One Stop Shop lets you declare and pay that VAT in one EU country. Imports up to €150 can use the Import One Stop Shop.

Shipping and packaging
From a German location, Shopify sells DHL Paket labels for parcels inside Germany. Anyone selling packaged goods in Germany must be registered in the LUCID packaging register, and since August 12, 2026, companies based abroad must also name a representative in Germany.

Impressum and the order button
A commercial website must show who runs it, the Impressum, where it's easy to find. The button that places the order must say “zahlungspflichtig bestellen”, or something just as clear, and nothing else.

The withdrawal button
Shoppers can withdraw from an online purchase within 14 days. Since June 19, 2026, EU law also asks online shops for a withdrawal function, and Germany's civil code labels it “Vertrag widerrufen”, with a second step to confirm.

Accessibility (BFSG)
Germany's Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz brings the European Accessibility Act into force for online shops serving consumers since June 28, 2025. Microenterprises that provide services, with fewer than 10 staff and no more than €2 million in turnover or balance sheet, are exempt. We fix barriers in the code, never with an overlay widget.

Common questions from brands in Germany
Is Rolling Pandas a Shopify Agentur for German brands?
Yes. Rolling Pandas is a Shopify agency, a Shopify Agentur in German, and Shopify Select Partner. We work with brands in Germany remotely from Varna and Sofia, Bulgaria, one hour ahead of Berlin. This page and our work with you are in English. We've built stores in German for Qstar and Zellaforte.
Does the BFSG apply to my Shopify store?
The Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz covers online shops serving consumers since June 28, 2025. Microenterprises that provide services are exempt: fewer than 10 staff and no more than €2 million in turnover or balance sheet. We don't give legal advice. We find and fix accessibility barriers in your theme's code, never with an overlay widget.
What is the withdrawal button?
Since June 19, 2026, EU law asks online shops for a withdrawal function, so shoppers can withdraw from a purchase online within their 14 days. Germany's civil code asks for a button labelled “Vertrag widerrufen”, then a second step labelled “Widerruf bestätigen”.
Which payment methods does Shopify Payments offer in Germany?
Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay, with payouts in euros. Klarna is the local method Shopify lists for German shoppers, and it's on by default for new eligible accounts. Shopify's Germany page also lists local methods for shoppers in nearby countries, such as iDEAL and Bancontact.
Do I need to register in LUCID to sell in Germany?
If you sell packaged goods in Germany, yes. Registration in the LUCID packaging register is required, and since August 12, 2026, companies based abroad without a branch in Germany must also name an authorized representative there. The register's own site explains each step.
How are your prices set for brands in Germany?
In US dollars, as on the rest of our site. A design and build is a fixed price, set after a call by the size of the store and what it needs. The Rolling Team starts at $3,500 a month for one department.
